EXHAUSTED but elated a team running for St Richard's Hospice completed the London marathon on April 14. The eight strong team, including Maria Rosser, of Droitwich Spa, who completed the gruelling event in a time of four hours 51 mins, raised more than £10,000 towards vitally needed hospice funds. WI - A special birthday was celebrated. Business was completed and reminders given for the group meeting at Astley and the walk arranged by Far Forest's twin group at Malvern on May 6. West Malvern

THERE has been an excellent response to the appeal in the current edition of the Hills Echo for volunteers to join the Friends of Adelaide House who for nearly 30 years have been regularly visiting and organising events for residents of West Malvern's Red Cross care home for the elderly. It was feared that the group might have to wind up because of diminishing numbers and increasing age of committee members. However no fewer than six people have already come forward showing an interest in helping with this valuable work, and there are now lively hopes that The Friends may be revitalised and continue their activities.
