THIS is the car of the future, as designed by Malvern-based Morgan Motor Company. The Malvern firm has revealed its new emission-free concept car. The Morgan LifeCar, which is powered by a hydrogen fuel cell, will be unveiled at the 2008 Geneva International Motor Show. The aim of the concept car is to "demonstrate that a zero-emission vehicle can also be fun to drive". A number of firms have joined with Morgan to fine tune the plans.  more...

WHILST recognising that control of parking during car boot sales is necessary, I am wondering which moron instigated the erection of 48 "no parking/waiting posts" in the Dunley Road/Pearl Lane/ Ribbesford area. They are a great eyesore, a wanton waste of public money - and a total overreaction. A bit of lateral thinking might have resulted in the transfer of one of the two parking attendants seen patrolling Stourport High Street to the Dunley Road for a short period each boot day, thus negating the need for these signs.  more...

Longdon

THE benefice Mothering Sunday service took place at St Nicholas, Queenhill on Sunday, March 2. During the service, flowers were distributed to all ladies present. Bridge Builders and Outer Limits took part in the service by performing a play about Mothers and a poem. The Junior choir sang two songs they will be performing at the BBC Choir of the Year competition at Warwick University next Saturday. The highlight of the service must go to Nevis the dog who joined in the singing most enthusiastically! Afterwards, refreshments were served by the ladies of the church. THE Red Lion at Powick is the latest venue for live music sessions, on Wednesday nights from 9pm. Richard and Lin Griffiths, landlords, have invited local performers Clive John and Andy Lindsay to invite musicians to play every Wednesday. They kicked off on February 20 with singer Claire Boswell. Last Wednesday, Tyler and Vo, superb guitarists entertained plus Malvern based Flatworld provided lively Klezmer music. This five piece band featuring guitars, drums, violins and sax played music from Eastern Europe, Romania, Poland and the Balkans. THE first thing to mention this week is The Malvern Hills Bridge Club, which meets every Thursday night at The Pheasant at 7pm. Details are available from Angela Lane on 01684 594379. A host is available, should you come by yourself The next item to mention is Raising the Flagpole in Welland, which needs your financial support if it is to come to fruition. Some generous donations have been received, and may I , on behalf of the appeal's organisers, thank you, but more needs to be raised if the project is to succeed. HOLY Trinity Church Bosbury. The Parochial Church Council will be revising the electoral roll during the period March 14-28. If you are not already on the roll but would like to be included, forms are available from the Electoral Roll Officer, Rhinedd Krinks. All those registered on the roll are qualified to vote at the annual church meeting where the elections take place for the parochial church council and the parish representatives on the deanery synod. This year's meeting is on Thursday, April 17 at 7pm at the parish hall.  more...
