Hereford and Worcestershire Connexions has thanked its staff in Bromsgrove who have enabled at least 92 per cent of town youngsters to find opportunities in education, employment and training. Connexions, which provides impartial advice, guidance and support, carried out a record number of individual contacts and interviews over the last 12 months. TWENTY five children attended the Good Friday activity morning at Longdon Vicarage last week. Activities included making Easter gardens, decorating polystyrene eggs, Easter bunnies and minibeasts, cooking, making Easter cards, Easter baskets and floral table decorations. The children heartily enjoyed joining in with lively action songs, prayers and readings. The morning ended with an Easter egg hunt in the Vicarage garden, where the children had to find the answers to seven questions relating to the morning readings. They were then rewarded with an Easter surprise to take home. Thank you to all the helpers who made this event possible and so much fun. more...

ON Easter Sunday Reverend Sue Irwin dedicated a new Book of the Four Gospels in memory of Douglas Walker - priest, to be used in St Peter's Church. Retired Reverend Chris Copeland took the service and preached. After the service, members of Powick Handbell Ringers - Sally and Roger Gurney, Chris and Cheryl Lester, Jenny Taylor and Meg Allsopp, under the leadership of Mary Stafford - played tunes from several Easter hymns whilst coffee and Easter biscuits (made by Neville Radburn) were enjoyed. The church had been beautifully decorated and included an Easter garden to welcome in the new life of the Easter message and the springtime. more...
