WOMEN who played an important role during the Second World War will be recognised at a talk this March. The Clent History Society is holding a talk entitled Idle Women about young women who worked on canal boats and helped to ensure vital transport links during the war. The talk will be given by Vince Williams and Jon Goodson who are qualified narrowboat skippers involved in the British Waterways' heritage working boats project. The meeting will be held at Clent parish hall, in Church Avenue, on March 5 at 8pm. Entry costs £1.50 and includes tea or coffee.  more...
