Leigh

IN a spirit of great generosity, the pupils, staff and friends of Malvern St James will be presenting a concert from which half the proceeds will be donated to the Leigh Church Heritage Fund. Although the fund was originally started in order to save the south aisle roof and the ancient treasures protected by that roof, the committee and the friends of Leigh Church also have the wider goal of preserving the entire fabric of this wonderful Grade I Listed building. The support of Malvern St James is most warmly appreciated and it is hoped that the concert will be enjoyed by lovers of architecture as well as by friends of Leigh Church and Malvern St James. The concert will consist of a wide variety of light and serious music performed by the girls of Malvern St James and it will be held in York Hall at 7.30pm on Saturday, March Tickets are £7.50, £6.00 ( concessions) and £20 for families. They are now on sale at reception in Malvern St James, the Croft Guest House, Bransford and from members of the Leigh Church Heritage Fund Committee.  more...

West Malvern

IT'S not exactly the M5, but the notoriously rough track down to the Brewers Arms and the adjoining properties has benefited from the resurfacing works being carried out on several nearby roads. Several loads of the ground-up old tarmac were deposited on the track and rolled in, so the approach to the pub and its neighbouring houses is now smoother than for many a year. How well it will stand up to the heavy rains that seem to be increasingly common remains to be seen, but for the moment the improvement is striking!  more...
