West Malvern

CONSIDERABLE disruption to traffic through the village must be expected on Monday and Tuesday January 14 and 15, when West Malvern Road will be closed to facilitate the installation of power cables from the junction with Mathon Road and the junction with Old Hollow opposite the Lamb Inn. The officially recommended alternative route between the lower and upper parts of the village will involve going round by North Malvern, Great Malvern, and the Wyche, a distance of several miles. We understand however that it will only be the road between the junctions that will be closed (with access to frontages only). This should allow local residents in light vehicles to make a much shorter, if tortuous, detour via Lower Road, Mathon Road and Croft Bank to avoid the length alternative route, but larger vehicles will have no choice. Also affected will be the 675 bus service through the village. At the time of going to press the operators Malvernian Tours were considering whether they would able to maintain a service during the period of the works: we hope to be able to say here next Friday whether the service will run or not.  more...
