HALLOW WI

WE had a couple of events affected by the poor summer weather. Our planned treasure hunt in late June around the village, when we hosted a group function, very quickly had to be turned into a fun quiz and a game of kurling in the Parish Hall as the rain hammered down all evening. But we made the most of it and everyone had an enjoyable evening. And an art trip to Oxford which I was really looking forward to, planned the weekend of the floods, had to be cancelled.  more...

PARISH councillors at Cofton Hackett had take drastic steps to stamp out hooliganism on the village playing field. Some weeks before they had ordered it to be closed at weekends and each night at 8pm, but to no avail. Now, it would close at 5pm and barbed wire was to be used to fill in gaps and along the tops of border fences to keep out the unruly teenagers. BROMSGROVE firefighters helped release a baby which had been locked in a car in Alcester Road, Lickey End, at around 12.05pm last Friday. The baby was uninjured. Firefighters were also called to a car fire last Sunday on the M5, south bound, between junctions four a and five at 9.47am. On the same day, Bromsgrove firefighters extinguished a garden waste fire in Fairways Drive, Blackwell, at 4.27am.  more...
